A great day for racing in the Delta Watershed Park! Perfect temperatures, the dirt was fast but grippy, and everyone had a smile at the finish line!
THANK YOU so much for the fantastic support and sponsorship of Cap's South Shore Cycle. They came with tent and full mechanical support along with an amazing assortment of swag prizes.
As we had technical issues with Webscorer, all timing was with an iPhone clock and a note pad. Most laps times are accurate, some were missed as you rode by too fast!! Those were interpolated, but the finish times are correct. Special kudo's to Seth who rode with his beginner daughter for her lap, then put it on full gas to complete the next 3 laps in near podium time!

Our first Trail Day of the year had 13 of us raking the trails, creating over 20 French drains, built a new berm at the exit of The Dive, and many other tasks to spruce up South Surrey Bike Park. Luckily the morning drizzle ended by noon when pizza was served to the hardy crew.

Long time Delta Watershed Park Advocate Brett Armstrong receiving the well deserved Golden Shovel Award for his outstanding work in the Shed! THANK YOU Brett!
The Red Racer JunkYard Cross CX Race proved that like ducks to water, CX racers are to muck! 173 starters at that.
Saturday's atmospheric river did not spare us during setup and it had us thinking the unthinkable - do we cancel? But with the team on site with the unshakable drive to put on another great race, and the sudden surge in last day registrations, we knew we had only one option - THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
The morning racers had first crack to the course and with the day staying fairly dry, the course stayed in great condition. But with Race #4 and the large number of Master Men B and Super Master Men 55+, the course started to take a beating - then the clouds unleashed the rains and we had our muck on! The Bond Training Mud Wall never looked so good! By Race #5, the Elites and Master Men A had the "best" CX conditions of the day! The bike wash station had a long line with more attention spent with the racers spraying the mud off each other than their bikes - thats just the CX scene we like to see.
Central City Brewers & Distillers brought out not only the beer and tents for the Red Racer Beer Garden, but the famous Norco Red Cruiser Bike with Ambassador "Betty" Madelaine. Betty presented each podium winner (of age) with a 4 pack of Central City's finest brew! Thank You Betty!
Swag was in great supply from our many sponsors - THANK YOU. In the Race Village we had - The Bike Zone, Cannondale Bikes, Crank It Sports with SOX Footwear, Nitrolube, Blonyx Nutrition, BikeBac with Project 529. THANK YOU Easton Cycling, BC Bike Race, Tarin Wheels, Bond Training, Physiomoves, Fresh Slice, Double R Rentals. Drew Nelson from the Thrashers kindly brought his great sound system.
The one disappointing thing that the nasty weather unleashed upon us was the cancellation of the BC Ferry that was to bring our most excellent photographer Scott Robarts. Unfortunately he wasn't able to attend to take photos of those muddy racer faces. We hope to have better luck next time.

The Red Racer JunkYard Cross CX Race 2024 is on Sunday, October 20, 2024
Registration opens soon!
Is was a great day of CX racing at the Shed, with the Beginner and Intermediates in the first race, followed by the Experts. We wrongly predicted the Experts to require 40 minutes to complete 10 laps and were off by a couple laps. So the Experts raced a 50 minute race for the winner but the rest of the field needed 55+ minutes. But it was a great warm up race for the CX season and there were nothing but smiles all around so all good in the end.
THANK YOU to Cap's South Shore Cycle who had 2 mechanics on site and were kept very busy. Cap's provided lots of great swag as well as a new bike trainer!.
All the results are on WEBSCORER.

Congratulations to all the racers who entered the Bike Zone JunkYard Cross CX race last Sunday! With a great turnout of 219 racers, a steady stream of spectators and a super busy Race Village, it was another super day for the SORCE crew who put out another great event. Yes, we are pretty stoked how things turned out!

Central City Brewers and Distillers sponsored the Red Racer Beer Garden and Fresh Slice delivered a steady stream of hot pizza throughout the day. Scott Robarts again took 100's of pro photos for racers to download for their personal use. We received so much support and a ton of swag from; BC Bike Race, Cannondale, Orange Sports, Norco Bikes, Easton Cycling, Scott Bikes, Tairin Wheels, Outdoor Gear Canada, Physiomoves Physiotherapy and dry land specialists Bond Training. Double R Rentals provided the tables, chairs, fencing, towers and a heck of a lot of other stuff to make for a great Race Village.
Our MC's duo extraordinaire, Eric and Dale gave us great commentary and music for a great Village vibe! The Cycling BC Commissaires provided oversight of course preparedness, race starts, bike scrutineering, timing verifications and a whole lot more!
Special THANK YOU to the setup crew on Saturday, taking care of so many tasks during the race, and for all the extra help from racers and spectators to take everything down. We actually locked the gate at 5:30, so big kudo's for all the help!
See you next year!
The Cap's South Shore Shed Fiver CX race was a resounding success! Of the 81 who registered, a SORCE Fiver record, 64 took to the course around the Delta Watershed Park.
We had 3 races starting with Beginner at 20 min, Intermediate racers for 30 minutes and the Experts 40 minutes. The course comprised of the typical ribbon on stakes course winding through The Meadow with log barriers, riders entering the fast flowy forest section and through the creek.
Podiums with medals 3 deep for men and women were presented, followed with some amazing swag donated by Cap's South Shore Cycle. Many small bike related prizes were drawn out first then the top prizes of 2 new bike trainers and a bike stand. You heard that right - about $1,000 in swag!
Dustin from Cap's was on site with his own bike stand and tools to provide racer support for minor repairs and adjustments.
Webscorer gave us trouble during the Intermediate and Expert race and we had to count laps using clip boards, paper and pen. Unfortunately we only tabulated the top 3 finishers for each of 6 categories for the podium. The data from the Beginner race vaporized. Our apology.
Huge THANK YOU to all the racers and of course our sponsor extraordinaire, Cap's South Shore Cycle!
See you all at the JunkYard Cross CX race on October 22 at South Surrey Bike Park

The weather was sunny, the Central City Brewery Red Racer beer garden was packed with cheering fans right at the Physiomoves Barriers, the course was our best yet, and the quantity and quality of swag was second to none! The Race Village was humming with excitement throughout the day with racers, spectators and stunned Pickle Ballers! THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who put in countless hours to make this happen.
